Tata DoCoMo plans to launch comics on mobile phones


Tata DoCoMo seems to gain the attention of the people.It has brought comics over cell phone now. All Tata DoCoMo users who love to read comics will soon have access to their favorite comics on their phone. Tata DoCoMo ACK Media and Walt Disney animation are teamed up to launch a collection of Amar Chitra Katha and Disney-comics for Tata DoCoMo subscribers.

Dubbed as ‘Comix on the Go’, the downloadable application offers a bundle of animated comics. The selected comics included in this service are Suppandi, Akbar Birbal, Manga, Disney, Mickey Mouse, Panchtantra, Devi and a few others. These would be offered in a multimedia package accompanied with sound effects and theme songs.
This value added service will be available only on high-end Nokia phones that have S60 interface but they are working on adding support for more handsets.The company hasn't declared its exact pricing.

Sony VAIO L touchscreen multipurpose PC unveiled


Sony has announced the Vaio L series all-in-one PC. It is an “ultimate multi-media hub” that serves as PC, HDTV and DVR.It provides different functionality.The VAIO L has built-in digital NTSC/ATSC TV tuner and DVR capabilities.The Sony VAIO L series All-in-One comes boasts a 24-inch wide touchscreen HD display with 1920×1080p resolution, which offers a great user comfort and convenience for view photos, camcorder clips, movie on blu-ray and more in Full HD.




Sony VAIO L All-in-one PC is powered by 2.7GHz Intel Pentium Dual Core CPU, 4GB of RAM (expandable up to 12GB), a 320GB hard drive. The system offers a choice for an NVIDIA GeForce GT 240M 1GB graphics chip, or the GeForce G210M 512MB GPU. Other various features of the VAIO L are WiFi 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth, a Blu-ray drive, HDMI, a face-tracking webcam, a DVD burner, Gigabit Ethernet LAN port, built-in IR receiver, Memory Stick card slot, SD card slot and the option of up to 1TB of built-in storage. It will come loaded with Microsoft Windows 7.
The other notable features of this PC include Media Gallery, Vaio Movie Story and Music player with SenseMe technology. The L series PC comes with a wireless keyboard. This keyboard flaunts a dedicated Vaio button that launches the Media Gallery.The price is expected to begin from $1299.99

Adobe Flash to Shine on All Smartphones - Except iPhone


Adobe has announced a public developer beta for Flash 10.1, a new version of its online video technology. Flash 10.1 is designed for use on both desktop and smartphone operating systems. However, it will not be compatible with the iPhone.
Adobe on Monday released new details about its forthcoming Flash Player 10.1 application, designed for for smartphones, smartbooks, netbooks, PCs and other devices connected to the Internet.

A public developer beta of the browser-based runtime is scheduled to be released later this year. It will cover Windows Mobile and Palm webOS in the mobile realm, as well as Windows, Mac OS and Linux desktop operating systems. Public betas for Google Android and Symbian mobile OSes are scheduled for early 2010, and RIM is working with Adobe to bring Flash to the BlackBerry.Notably, the iPhone was absent from Adobe's list of target platforms.

Flash Player 10.1 lets users distribute content created with Adobe Flash across a wide variety of platforms. The browser-based runtime lets app designers and developers reuse code and assets, Adobe said.

Sony Ericsson Satio, Aino and Yari Unveiled in India

Sony Ericsson has introduced three new smartphones in India.The new phones are the Satio, Aino and Yari.



The Aino is equipped with an 8MP camera as well as Clear Stereo and Clear Bass sound quality. It provides render remote play access to videos, television shows and photos. The Media Go feature allows users to stream content like images, videos and podcasts from PCs onto the phone via Wi-Fi. Additionally, the Wi-Fi connectivity enables users to access content stored on a PS3 from any location in the world.

The Satio offers the ultimate multimedia experience. It boasts a 3.5 inch screen offering a 16:9 widescreen format and 12 megapixel camera with Smile Shutter, Xenon flash and Touch Focus. Its touch-sensitive UI significantly offers easy navigation between the phone’s application like media menu, music player and camera settings concurrently. It is also the first and only phone from the company to use Series 60 version 5 based on Symbian OS. The phone comes with 128MB of onboard memory and supports microSD cards of upto 32GB.

The Yari debuts Gesture gaming that enables users to make the moves in front of the screen and play games without even touching the phone. The Phone comes with a 5 megapixel camera and state-of-the-art music player, stereo speakers for easy listening. The one button press feature called Music call allows users to share music while conversing on the phone.
The expected prices of Aino, Satio and Yari are priced at Rs.28,950, Rs.35,950 and Rs.16,950 respectively.

Sony announces digital photo frame, DPP-F700, with built-in printer


Sony has announced the launch of a new digital photo frame the S-Frame DPP-F700.this digital photo frame comes with a built-in photo printer.The digital photo frame sports a 7-inch display with an 800 x 480 resolution, USB port, and a card reader. The built-in printer can print a 4-inch x 6-inch photo with a resolution of 300 x 300 dpi in just 45-seconds. The frame comes with 1GB of internal memory which can store up to 2,000 pictures.
The creative print mode enables users to create calendars, ID photos and layout prints. The screen capture function allow the users to print an image like the one it is displayed in a slide show. The S-Frame has compatibility with JPEG, TIFF and BMP file formats and can be remotely controlled. Photos can be played back as single, static images or as a slideshow with ten built-in transitionsThe frame will also enable users to edit images before making prints. Editing options include enlarging, reducing, cropping, date stamping, adding borders or omitting, and adjusting brightness, contrast, hue, and sharpness.Manual rotation of photos is also possible.
The DPP-F700 digital photo frame-printer will be available for about $200 in January 2010 and can be purchased online at sonystyle.com, at Sony Style retail stores.

Nokia Launches 6788 TD-SCDMA Handset


Nokia has announced its first TD-SCDMA handset, the 6788. This is Nokia’s first device for TD-SCDMA, China’s domestic 3G standard.This phone is the outcome of an alliance between Nokia and China Mobile.

The handset has been developed specifically to support China Mobile’s 3G network and offers rich data services. It is an all-in-one device that provides its users with faster Internet speeds and download times.
The handset has a 5-megapixel camera with a dual-LED flash, 2.8-inch QVGA display, and Symbian S60 platform. It lets users immediately share data. This camera is capable of capturing images with a resolution of 2592 x1944 pixels. It also comes with 4GB of storage. The  design of handset is inspired by traditional Chinese furniture and architecture with Chinese patters on the back of the slide and the battery cover. The phone will be available in two color variants: Black with Red Highlights and a brown version with a pinch of gold.
The Nokia 6788 is expected to become available at the end of December 2009.

LG unleashes 3 new Mobile Phones - GW 525, GT 505 and GM 730


LG has launched GW525GT505 
and GM730 handsets that are 
aimed at the social networking 
audience in India.


The LG GW525 is designed with messaging on-the-move in mind, be that via social networks, email or SMS and IM. The LG GW525 incorporates 7.11 cm TFT touch display and side-slide QWERTY keypad, 3 megapixels camera and a VGA secondary camera, FM Radio, video recording and more. The LG GW525 supports Bluetooth, GPRS, EGDE, WAP connectivity, and has 35MB internal memory which is expandable up to 8GB through micro SD card.                                 
The LG GT505 also offers push social networking services; consumer push email and
business push email via Microsoft Exchange Active Sync. The LG GT505 incorporates

to 8GB through micro SD card. It comes preloaded with a 30-day free trial of ‘Wisepilot 
for LG’ – a turn-by-turn navigation solution with voice instruction and a choice of 2D or
3D mapping.


The LG GM730 has an advanced multimedia features such as a 5-megapixel camera, MP3 player and numerous action-packed games make this phone a full-featured entertainment device. Built around a 3D cube layout, the S-class UI of LG GM730 and Windows Mobile combination makes the device quite easy to operate. It is 11.9mm slim and highlighted by an elegant chrome band.
The expected prices of GW525, GT505 and GM730 are  Rs. 13,990, Rs. 14,990 and Rs. 22,490 respectively.

Acer New Laptop Takes Interdimensional Leap


Acer on last week announced a notebook with 3-D viewing technology aimed at gamers and entertainment buffs.
The Aspire 5783DG has a 15.6-inch backlit Acer CineCrystal HD display integrated with a TriDef 3-D screen. It comes with 3-D software and glasses.
It also has an integrated multi-in-one media reader and an HDMI port.

At the heart of the notebook is an Intel (Nasdaq: INTC) Core Duo T6600 processor with 2 MB of L2 cache. The notebook also has a Mobile Intel PM45 Express chipset and 4 GB of DDR2 1,066 MHz memory. It incorporates the ATI (Nasdaq: ATYT) Mobility Radeon HD 4570. This has 512 MB of dedicated DDR3 VRAM and up to1,792 MB of shared system memory.

Storage consists of a 320 GB 5,400 RPM SATA hard drive. The Aspire 583DG also has an 8x DVD-Super multi double-layer drive and four USB 2.0 portsFor sound, the notebook has Dolby Home Theater Audio Enhancement and built-in stereo speakers. It provides 5.1-chanel surround output.
The Aspire 5783DG has integrated 802.11 a/b/g/n wireless support and Gigabit Ethernet. It incorporates a built-in Acer Crystal Eye webcam that can capture still photos and video. The notebook has a multi-gesture touchpad.

The notebook comes with 64-bit Windows 7 Home Premium preinstalled. It has a six-cell lithium ion battery and weighs 6.16 pounds. It measures 15.1 by 9.9 by 1.03 inches and uses Acer's Gemstone design.
Three-dimensional capabilities are provided by the TriDef 3-D solution, which consists of the 3-D screen, software and special glasses. The TriDef Media Player lets users play back videos and photos in 3-D, and the TriDef Ignition tool enables 2-D to 3-D conversion for games and applications supporting Microsoft's(Nasdaq: MSFT) DirectX9 and above.

Android 2.0 Phones Get New Google Nav App


Google has stepped into the smartphone navigation app market with Maps Navigation, which is based on its Maps for mobile app and gives the user live turn-by-turn directions, among other features. Though Maps for mobile is available on many smartphone platforms, for the time being, only Android 2.0 phones like the upcoming Droid will be able to use Maps Navigation.


The application is part of Google Maps for mobile. Android version 2.0 will appear on the upcoming Droid handset from Motorola (NYSE: MOT) and Verizon, and other manufacturers also plan to release handsets carrying the updated, Google-backed mobile OSTo search, users have the option of entering the name of a business or landmark into the search box instead of the exact address of a location.
Travelers may like the following features, which leverage their smartphones' Internet access: Live traffic data; satellite view; street view; and search along route.
A blinking light in the corner of the smartphone's screen will glow green, yellow or red depending on traffic conditions along the user's route. Users can get more details by zooming out to an aerial view. Like other GPS systems, Google Map Navigation lets users choose alternate routes.
While driving, users can search for a business by name or type, or they can locate gas stations, restaurants or parking by activating pre-installed layers on the map. Double-tapping the map takes users into Street View. Google Maps Navigation can also show travelers a picture of their destination so they know what to look for when they arrive.
